University of Exeter Builds on Pioneering STAR® Programme Success for another 3 Years

Following the successful launch of the STAR® Programme, the University of Exeter has entered into an exciting three-year collaboration with Notion, who are global experts in Operational Coaching® and the creators of the innovative STAR® Programme.

Setting the pace for new management standards in academia, the University invited 50 academic and professional staff onto Notion’s revolutionary STAR® Programme in July 2018. Using the very latest technology in behaviour change, delegates were able to develop brand new skills to improve engagement, productivity and performance, as well as the student experience.

Dr Clive Betts, Head of People Development at the University of Exeter describes more about the impact of the STAR® programme…

Clive Betts

“The University is committed to finding innovative solutions that help our people to thrive and push the boundaries of what is possible. The STAR® programme has produced clear results for delegates that have included increased confidence and more effective teamwork.

We are happy to continue to champion this programme and we are confident that over the next three years we can build upon these successes.”

The second annual cohort, which included a mix of both academic and professional staff, has now started the STAR® programme, marking the beginning of the three-year collaboration.

Each year the most engaged managers from the cohort will be invited to develop even deeper skills and join Notion’s Accredited Internal Coach (AIC®) programme; they will then be able to offer Executive Coaching services to colleagues within the University.

Dr Betts explains:

“We are going to sponsor some of our most engaged learners to upgrade their skills so that they can become Accredited Internal Coaches. Their support in championing and supporting the wider programme will be very influential.”

Notion’s MD and co-creator of the STAR® Programme, Dominic Ashley-Timms, is also excited about the future:

“Exeter was the first University to launch the programme and we are delighted to continue our successful collaboration with them. This is a testament to the pioneering attitude of the people at Exeter and a clear demonstration of what STAR® can achieve. We are very much looking forward to working with Dr Clive Betts and Jonathan Creswell over the coming three years.”
